Kardashian Paternity Test Results
Thanks to a DNA test, Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick can finally put the rumors to rest that their 3-year-old son was fathered by male model, Michael Girgenti. Girgenti claimed he had a short-lived affair with the eldest Kardashian in 2009, which resulted in her pregnancy with her son. While Kourtney and Scott have vigorously denied Girgenti’s claim from day one, he continued to push, according to E! News, by filing a paternity lawsuit.
Unfortunately, for Michael Girgenti, the results of the paternity test proved that he was not the father of Kourtney’s son and that Scott Disick was in fact the boy’s father.
Kourtney followed-up the release of the DNA results with a statement to E! News:
“After three-and-a-half years of rumors and lies being spread by an individual I met briefly at a photo shoot, I am setting the record straight that Scott is Mason’s father.” Her statement makes you wonder why he was so adamant all along, if, in fact, there was no chance of him being the father. Was it just for the attention? Pretty sad, if that’s true.
In today’s society, technology makes fast and easy paternity test results possible, but that was not always the case. According to a lecture series given by Nara Milanich, an associate professor of history at Barnard College, long before DNA testing existed, a child’s father was determined by whom their mother’s husband was at the time of the child’s birth. Milanich also acknowledges that blood type, fingerprints, and footprints were used as techniques by researchers to establish a child’s paternity before DNA was discovered. While the inaccuracy of these procedures failed to provide a true answer to a child’s paternity, they do help today’s society understand that throughout history, paternity was always a relevant and burning issue.
DNA testing has evolved into a reliable science that can provide fathers and mothers with accurate answers to their child’s paternity. Thankfully, for Kourtney Kardashian, a simple DNA test afforded her the ability to prove without a doubt that Scott Disek and not Michael Girgenti was the father of her eldest child. Question answered. Done deal.
