NFL’s Tre Mason Busted for Weed in FL
LA Rams running back, Tre Mason, had a pretty rough weekend after he was arrested Florida for possession of twelve grams of marijuana, reckless driving and failure to register a motor vehicle, according to a police report posted on Twitter by reporter, Frank Guzman.
Mason’s arrest occurred on Saturday at approximately 4:30 in Hollywood, Florida when he was witnessed driving 75 mph in a 35 mph zone by an officer from the Hollywood Police Department on South Ocean Drive. According to the police report, Mason was driving erratically while changing lanes frequently and braking dangerously close to other vehicles. The officer witness to all of this attempted to stop the NFL running back, but was unsuccessful when Mason sped away before contact was made.
The officer was ultimately able to initiate a formal traffic stop when Mason was unable to drive around another vehicle. However, the traffic stop Mason was repeatedly asked to produce his driver’s license or to provide his name and date of birth. Neither of which he was willing to offer the officer. His lack of cooperation and the rather noticeable fragrance of marijuana that was wafting from the vehicle were reason enough for the officer on the scene to begin the arrest process.
Mason, however, had no intention of obeying the officer’s orders. He refused to exit the vehicle and attempted to brace himself inside. Things didn’t end well for Mason, as you’re likely to imagine. He was indeed subdued by the officers when a Taser was used.
After being tased, Mason was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital to be cleared by medical personnel.
