Laws and Regulations Relating to Substance Abuse in Stockton, CA
To create better protections for Stockton and surrounding California area residents who seek substance abuse treatment, the California Governor Signed SB 349 in April 2022. Under this new act, every substance abuse treatment provider in the state of California is now required to provide a “client bill of rights” to those seeking addiction treatment.
This client bill of rights notifies the individual that they have the right to ethical, safe, and evidence-based drug treatment services in the state of California. This comes in part of an effort to reduce the improper treatment of patients and eliminate false or misleading advertising by treatment service providers. Failure to abide by this new law could result in a treatment service provider facing a fine of up to $20,000.
