Notable Historical Events Related to Drug Use in Kansas City, MO
In June of 2022, 16 Kansas City metro area residents were arrested for drug trafficking conspiracy. These individuals were indicted by a federal grand jury for their roles in the conspiracy to distribute cocaine, fentanyl, and methamphetamine. Thirteen of them conspired to distribute more than five kilograms of cocaine, methamphetamine, and fentanyl from January 1, 2019, through June 21, 2022. Six of the Kansas City metro area residents were charged with their involvement in a money laundering conspiracy after engaging in financial transactions involving the proceeds of the drug trafficking conspiracy. Many of these residents were also charged with seven separate drug trafficking counts and nine separate counts for using their cell phones to facilitate drug trafficking crimes. One resident was charged with the possession of a firearm after being in possession of a Springfield .40-caliber handgun in August of 2021.
