Business Owner Pleaded Guilty in $4.7 Million Meth and Heroin Conspiracy
A Mexican citizen residing in Overland Park, Kansas, pleaded guilty in July 2024 to her involvement in a money laundering conspiracy that sent proceeds from methamphetamine and heroin trafficking to Mexico. She is the owner of Imagen Leal, a money transfer business in Olathe, Kansas, and admitted to facilitating wire transfers of drug profits to individuals in Michoacán, Mexico, from May 2020 to September 2022. She transferred over $83,000 between January and June 2022, structured to avoid detection, and accepted illicit drug proceeds from co-conspirators. Now, she is facing up to 20 years in federal prison.
This conspiracy is part of a broader drug operation that involves over 335 kilograms of meth, 22 kilograms of heroin, fentanyl, and other drugs, valued at $4.7 million.
