Local initiatives to curb drug abuse in Vancouver, Washington

At the beginning of 2022, Clark County joined an Angel Initiative, which focuses on getting individuals with substance abuse issues into treatment. These people can come to any law enforcement agency and receive help without facing criminal charges. This initiative helps more people get help without the fear of ending up in jail.

This initiative came soon after a sharp rise in drug overdoses in Clark County, Flathead County, and Lewis County. This program in Washington was inspired by a similar program in Kentucky.

Clark County Washington offers a host of other substance abuse prevention resources. Some of these include the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), Office of National Drug Control Policy, Community Anti-drug Coalitions of America (CADCA), and Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP).
