Gulf Cartel Member Sentenced to Over 15 Years for Drug Trafficking
A member of the Gulf Cartel was sentenced to more than 15 years in federal prison for his involvement in drug trafficking. A 51-year-old man pleaded guilty in August 2022 to possession with intent to distribute cocaine. In addition to his prison sentence, U.S. District Judge Ada Brown ordered him to forfeit $28,481 in cash and four firearms. Prosecutors revealed that the man distributed cocaine to various locations, including Tennessee, Illinois, and Texas, based on information from the DEA.
The charges stemmed from an April 22, 2021, incident when he delivered cocaine to a known drug dealer's residence in Grand Prairie, Texas, and fled the scene. Law enforcement later recovered 3,862 grams of cocaine from a vehicle leaving the residence and an additional 1,937 grams from a grill on the property.
