In April of 2021 in the Chesapeake Bay near Annapolis, the DEA and Customs and Border Protection agents seized 44 pounds of cocaine from a freighter. During an inspection, officers found 20 bricks of cocaine, valued at $1 million. The drugs were hidden in the vessel's anchor locker.

Also in April of 2021 in Annapolis, MD, police arrested a 29-year-old Annapolis man with a suspected loaded gun and marijuana. The man and his vehicle were searched after an officer on foot patrol noticed the smell of marijuana coming from the car. Found inside were 35 grams of marijuana, a loaded handgun, $1,300 cash, ammunition, and a scale.
