Initiatives to curb drug abuse in Pomona, California

California has been on the top among all American states regarding the number of people dying from an overdose. The state is trying new methods to curb the drug abuse issue. In 2021, California's leaders suggested paying people to stay sober. The federal government has been doing something similar with military veterans, which proved effective, so the leaders want to try the same with people addicted to drugs.

The goal would be to give money to those who have had negative drug tests over twelve weeks. If people complete the treatment without any positive drug tests, they could earn a few hundred dollars. So far, it has not been approved or dismissed, so many Californians are waiting for the verdict. The money would likely be granted in the form of a gift card.
