Colorado ended 2020 with at least 1,477 fatal drug overdoses—the highest ever recorded in the state. The numbers increased almost by 40 percent compared to 2019. Like much of the state, Weld County has also experienced rising overdose deaths over recent years.
Police seized $50,000 worth of cocaine during a traffic stop
Greeley police had been investigating a man suspected of cocaine distribution, leading to two men’s arrest. Authorities searched their vehicle during a traffic stop and discovered three pounds of cocaine and a handgun.
Police obtained a search warrant for the home, where they discovered another large quantity of cocaine. In total, an estimated $50,000 of cocaine was removed from the streets by the Greeley Police SWAT team. Both suspects were taken into custody and booked in the Weld County Jail.
