He continued, "Yes, law enforcement is going to be out here, but you did what you're supposed to do. You're not going to be charged for this little bit of drugs. We want to talk to them to let them know they're here to help; we're here to help. They're not here to lock you up."

Government Efforts to Address Drug Problems in Wilson, NC

Wilson County and North Carolina residents are protected by the Good Samaritan Law if they ask for help or call 9-1-1 because someone is overdosing. This means they will not be tried in court for carrying small amounts of drugs or drug paraphernalia. The law was established to encourage residents to seek help if they, or someone else, overdoses.
