Police seized $500,000 worth of cocaine in Baltimore County

In February 2023, six people were indicted for trafficking cocaine from Texas to Baltimore County, as reported by the Maryland Attorney General's office. Three Texans were involved in distributing cocaine supplied from a local safe house. The drug bust revealed 15 kilograms of cocaine, 400 grams of crack cocaine, 10 firearms, and about $500,000 in drug-related funds. Charges against the group included conspiracy, drug trafficking, and weapons. Attorney General Anthony Brown emphasized that the Maryland Attorney General's office will continue to pursue these organizations for a safer community.

Towson, Maryland: Local initiatives to curb substance use

Towson locals are trying to combat the growing drug use through multiple initiatives to support those struggling with substance use disorders. One of them, Towson University's Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drug Prevention Center (ATOD), is focused on encouraging a healthy academic environment by promoting responsible substance use decisions. They promote harm reduction, peer education, prevention programs, and other support initiatives. One notable effort is the Tigers in Recovery program, supporting students recovering from substance abuse disorders.
