In 2020, one organization distributed about 1,400 naloxone kits, and about 345 of those were used to attempt overdose reversal.
Local initiatives to curb drug abuse in Spokane, Washington
In 2011, the Washington State Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery launched the Community Prevention and Wellness Initiative (CPWI). When people begin drinking alcohol before age 15, they are about six times more likely to develop alcohol dependence or abuse than adults who wait until after 21.
The CPWI partners with other sectors to encourage widespread change, raise community awareness, and deliver prevention programs to teenagers in communities with a high need.
