Montebello man sentenced to prison for 33 years after causing fentanyl overdose death

In January 2022, a 30-year-old man from Montebello went to federal prison for 33 years. He pleaded guilty to distributing fentanyl resulting in death and possessing heroin with intent to distribute. He gave the victim a line of drugs, falsely represented as cocaine, which turned out to be fentanyl, leading to a fatal overdose. He delayed seeking medical assistance for nearly six hours, cleaned his apartment to remove evidence, and attempted to hide it from law enforcement.

A search of the man's car revealed more drugs, a firearm, and additional drug paraphernalia. This case was investigated by the DEA and the Montebello Police Department.
