In January of 2021, a Canon City man was arrested after police discovered 21 grams of heroin, a half-pound of methamphetamine, and a gun inside his vehicle. Police received a tip that the 36-year-old man was dealing heroin in Fremont County. Police located his vehicle in Canon City and made a traffic stop. When officers approached the vehicle they saw the handgun, and the man, along with a female passenger, were detained while a search was performed. The passenger was released without charges, but the man faces multiple charges including possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, possession of a weapon by a previous offender, and traffic offenses.
In 2019 in Canon City, a months-long investigation led to six arrests and the discovery of more than 150 grams of various drugs. Four different investigations were launched by the Canon City Police Department on Family Center Drive, Justice Center Road, Raintree Boulevard, and Franklin Avenue. Charges for those arrested included unlawful possession and unlawful distribution of drugs, drug distribution, and drug possession. The drugs seized during these investigations included cocaine, methamphetamine, and black tar heroin.
