In 2019, an Arden, NC man was one of 26 people arrested in a regional cocaine ring. The seven-month-long investigation was part of an operation that included the Asheville Police Department, the Drug Enforcement Administration, Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, and Haywood County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation, which originated in Henderson County, expanded into Buncombe, Haywood, and Madison counties. The three primary targets of the investigation planned to distribute kilogram quantities of cocaine throughout western North Carolina. The investigation led to the seizure of 4 kg of methamphetamine, marijuana, heroin pills 1.5 kg of cocaine, more than $90,000 and firearms.
