There was an abrupt increase between 2019 and 2020 during the pandemic. In 2021, overdose death became Minnesota’s leading cause of injury death.
Local initiatives to curb substance abuse in Saint Paul, MN
Minnesota recently won a 26 billion multi-state lawsuit against opioid pharmaceutical companies and an opioid manufacturer. Ramsey County Public Health is seeking input from the community on how to use the settlement money to help those individuals affected by opioids.
