Notable Historical Events Related to Drug Abuse in Muskogee

The Dallas office of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) reported that 19 people from eastern Oklahoma were arrested in a major eighteen-month investigation into methamphetamine distribution and sales. Nine of the people who were arrested and charged with drug distribution and other Federal drug felonies were from Muskogee.

United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Oklahoma Brian J. Kuester said, "Every year hundreds of Oklahomans die as a result of methamphetamine overdose. Each fatal dose travels great distances as they move from producers to high level distributors to street dealers to users. Drug trafficking organizations are only concerned with pushing product and making profits. Death does not concern them. Justice is the only thing that will put an end to this deadly business."
