Types of Drug Tests in Akron, Ohio clinics:

In Akron, Health Street offers the widest variety and selection of drug tests anywhere, which allows you to choose from any panel you wish, with rapid results or sent to our lab, using a urine sample or a hair sample. Most of our tests have an option to add alcohol or remove THC from the screening, so that we can always meet your specific requirements.

The number of urine drug testing services and drug screening panels that we offer means that you can test for nearly any drug.

5 Panel - $75

The most basic test we offer is a 5 Panel Drug Test, which tests for:

Marijuana (THC, cannabinoids, weed)
Phencyclidine (PCP – angel dust)
Amphetamines (Adderall, Ritalin, methamphetamines)
Basic Opiates (heroin, morphine, codeine)

9 Panel - $85

The next option up from there is the 9 Panel Drug Test, which adds in some commonly abused prescriptions:

Benzodiazepines (Valium, Klonopin, Xanax)

10 Panel - $89

The popular 10 Panel Drug Test adds in methaqualone.

12 Panel - $149

When asked, we often recommend the 12 Panel Drug Test because it is a well rounded test that screens for common opioids and ecstasy, including:

MDMA/6AM (Ecstasy, Molly)
Expanded opiate class: Oxycodone, Oxymorphone, Hydrocodone, Hydromorphone (Vicodan, Percocet, Oxycontin)

16 Panel - $250

If you're at all concerned with opiate usage beyond basic painkillers, just as many people in Akron are, consider registering for a 16 Panel Opiate Drug Test. These synthetic opiates are not picked up by lesser panel tests.

Meperidine (Demerol)
Buprenorphine (Suboxone)

The above are just a few of the wide variety of urine tests we offer. You can view all urine drug screens offered at our Akron drug testing centers. We offer urine tests that go up to 22 panels, plus specialized tests for synthetic marijuana and bath salts, ketamine and rohypnol, GHB and more.

Akron, Ohio - Drug Testing

Substance Abuse Trends and Statistics for Akron, OH

Like much of the U.S., Akron has seen a significant increase in drug overdoses over the past few years. According to police, there were 60 overdose fatalities in the city as of April 2021, compared with 25 during the same time period in 2020. This represents a 140% increase. This is likely due, in part, to fewer people seeking treatment. Leaders of a local substance abuse facility say that during the pandemic, the number of people seeking detox treatment decreased from 30% to 40%.

The trend of people purposely or unknowingly mixing dangerous drugs is also contributing to the increase in overdoses. For example, it's now far more common to find substances such as fentanyl and carfentanil mixed into street drugs.

Notable Events Related to Drug Use in Akron

A large federal drug bust has led to the arrest of 13 people who were charged with federal drug trafficking. The investigation uncovered an attempt to flood the Akron area with cocaine, meth, and other drugs. Massive amounts of illegal substances were discovered, including 35 pounds of fentanyl. This is particularly disturbing since as little as two milligrams is enough to be deadly. Authorities say the drugs were being stored in and distributed from homes in Akron. The suspects included 10 Akron residents, a Cleveland man, and two individuals from West Virginia.

Local Initiatives to Curb Substance Abuse in Akron, OH

There are several local organizations that are working hard to minimize the impact of illegal drug use in the Akron area. The Summit County Opiate & Addiction Task Force is a collaboration of businesses, nonprofits, and government entities as well as grassroots organizations, individuals, and families. This group meets once per quarter to discuss the impact of drug use on the community and propose life-saving solutions.

In addition, Summit County's Project DAWN (Deaths avoided with Naloxone) is a community-based project focused on preventing drug overdoses. Participants in the group learn essential skills, such as identifying the signs of overdose and determining the type of overdose, as well as performing rescue breathing, calling 911, and administering Naloxone. In the first four months of 2021, Summit County distributed 1,616 Naloxone kits to community members.
