In 2016, five men from St. John the Baptist Parish, LA were indicted for dealing crack cocaine. The men were part of an organization known for violence and retaliation and had neighbors and rottweilers guarding their supply. The group was known to be associated with armed robbery, multiple shootings, and a suspected homicide. The DEA investigated the drug ring for at least nine months, focusing its attention on two neighbors who resided in Reserve, LA. Charges included conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine and retaliating against a witness for information provided to law enforcement relating to the commission of a federal offense.
In August of 2020 in Reserve, LA, a drug bust led to the arrest of two individuals. These individuals were driving in an SUV and led authorities on a short pursuit that ended after being cornered at East St. John High School. After obtaining a warrant, authorities searched the vehicle to find more than 600 doses of MDMA (Ecstasy), a digital scale, and more than 200 grams of marijuana. Charges include felony marijuana charges, the distribution of MDMA, flight from an officer, contempt of court and drug violation warrants, and two counts of person with outstanding warrant and possession or distribution of drug paraphernalia 1st offense.
In May of 2021 in St. John the Baptist Parish, a local couple was arrested on drug charges after a traffic stop. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle and were led on a short pursuit. After being stopped, officers searched the vehicle to find marijuana and heroin. After further investigation, the couple's hotel room was searched, and detectives seized 44 grams of heroin, 117 grams of marijuana, three packs of Suboxone, a digital scale, five grams of crack cocaine, and sales and distribution packaging.
