Fantastic, Quick, Easy
Fantastic. The system did not confirm that the text was sent to the individual we ordered a drug test for. That would be something that I would add. Quick, Easy and user friendly in addition to costumer service being great!

Initiatives to Help Curb Substance Abuse in Providence, RI

In an effort to curb the ongoing effects of the national opioid epidemic and its specific impacts on Rhode Island, state law enforcement developed the HOPE (Heroin Opioid Prevention Effort) Initiative. This initiative partners with various substance use professionals and law enforcement members across the state to better target individuals in need of assessment and drug treatment.

This interesting approach trains various members from law enforcement agencies across the state on various HOPE strategies to be used while not on duty. These trained professionals will then work for the HOPE initiative throughout local communities and conduct outreach to those in need of treatment resources to best guide them in the right direction. These professionals will also follow up with these individuals to ensure ongoing support throughout the recovery journey.

Laws and Regulations Relating to Substance Use in Providence, RI

In May 2022, Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee signed the Rhode Island Cannabis Act into law. This new set of laws legalized the adult recreational use of marijuana in the state of Rhode Island and implemented a new system of safety regulations for marijuana sales. The law now allows legal adults aged 21 and over to possess, consume, and purchase marijuana from a state-licensed dispensary.

The new legislation calls for a 20% tax rate, divided between a 7% sales tax, a 10% cannabis tax, and a 3% municipality tax for wherever marijuana is sold. Furthermore, under the Rhode Island Cannabis Act, prior civil or criminal marijuana possession charges received in the state will be automatically expunged from individual criminal records.
