Notable Events Related to Drug Use in Framingham

In April 2023, a major drug bust spanning multiple Massachusetts communities led to 13 arrests and the seizure of over $1 million in cash, cars, jewelry, guns, and drugs. Following a two-year investigation that began in Framingham, authorities uncovered a drug ring that was supplying, manufacturing, and distributing drugs at all levels throughout Middlesex County and other areas.

The investigation led to the seizure of 15,000 pills containing fentanyl and methamphetamine, some of which were laced with the extremely dangerous drug xylazine. This drug, also known as "tranq," is a veterinary tranquilizer that was recently declared an "emergency threat" by the Biden administration. Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan was quoted as saying, "There is no question that this product on the street would have resulted in people losing their life. That is the driving force behind these investigations — getting this product off the street before somebody dies from it."
