In 2014, a Mesquite, TX man was arrested after getting busted with 1,900 pounds of methamphetamine in his home. The 24-year-old Mesquite man told officers it was his job to package the drugs for distribution. DEA agents described the drug bust as one of the largest busts in the agency’s history.

In August of 2020, a months-long investigation led to authorities taking down a major illicit drug organization that was trafficking narcotics across the U.S. The investigation began with authorities arresting a low-level drug dealer who identified high-level narcotics traffickers involved in the organization. The organization moved thousands of pounds of THC and marijuana into Texas and many states throughout the country. The Dallas DEA and the Mesquite Police Department’s Narcotics Unit carried out multiple search warrants at numerous locations and made several arrests. The search warrants led to the seizure of more than $525,000 in cash, 14 rifles, 4 shotguns, 20 pistols, 9 vehicles, and 4 firearm silencers.
