Bayonne, New Jersey: Local Initiatives to curb drug abuse

In July 2022, Hudson County received a $76,500 grant from the New Jersey Governor's Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse (GCADA). The purpose of the grant was to support local efforts in combating substance abuse. The grant, known as the Municipal Alliance Allocation Grant, aimed to address the issues surrounding alcoholism and drug abuse in Hudson County municipalities. The funding was distributed to various municipalities based on their population statistics from the 2010 U.S. Census. Bayonne received $7,222 from the grant, which ran through March 30, 2023.

Another effective approach to curbing drug abuse is by promoting a drug-free environment. Bayonne police arrested a man because of possession and intent to distribute drugs

In December 2022, Bayonne police arrested a man from New Jersey after they discovered he had 28 glassine folds of heroin and 76 lock bags filled with cocaine. A 36-year-old man was charged with multiple crimes, including possession with the intent to distribute. He was taken into custody. The man was also wanted on six outstanding warrants.
