Government and Community Efforts to Address Drug Problems in Anthem, AZ and Maricopa County

MaricopaRX is an online tool, created by the Maricopa County Department of Public Health, for fighting that opioid epidemic. This online tool connects law enforcement, community-based organizations, educators, and treatment providers. The group hopes to use this collaboration to accelerate the progress, especially in high-risk populations. MaricopaRX is also a resource for those working in health care that are seeking information and training about dispensing opioids.

Shot in the Dark (SITD) is a harm-reduction and evidence-based education group based in Maricopa County, run by a group of volunteers. The group aims to expand the syringe-access program to prevent the spread of IV infections, as well as to expand access to the life-saving drug, naloxone. The group says its mission is to let the community know that "their health does matter."
