This is part of a program that has been in place since 2018. The libraries in Salt Lake County now give out about 500 to 600 kits each year. They’re offered on a “no questions asked” basis and residents can receive a kit by simply requesting one. West Valley residents can visit their local library branch at 2880 W 3650 S, West Valley City, UT 84119.

Salt Lake County Wins Landmark Settlement Against Opioid Manufacturers
Salt Lake County will receive a settlement of nearly $57 million from opioid distributors and manufacturers for their part in the “carnage” created by the area’s opioid crisis. County leaders noted that this is one of the largest civil litigation settlements in the county’s history.
Based on the numbers, Salt Lake County was the most heavily impacted by the opioid crisis. As a result, the county will receive approximately 43% of the state’s $133 million settlement. The impact was determined by examining the number of pills distributed, number of deaths, and rate of opioid use disorders versus the size of the county’s overall population.
