According to reports, law enforcement attempted to conduct a traffic stop of a dark-tinted BMW vehicle in Sterling Heights where the driver left the scene, wound up on a dead-end road, and fled on foot.

The woman passenger was instantly arrested, as well as the driver after a short foot chase. Upon search of the vehicle, law enforcement found a hidden compartment that contained 20,000 counterfeit Oxycontin pills. This initiative, which includes local stakeholders like law enforcement, follows a mission to prevent dangerous drug abuse and save the lives of local residents through the use of various preventive programs.

The initiative expanded access to Narcan, an emergency overdose treatment drug used to treat deadly overdose symptoms, by offering training classes and free access with no prescription. The initiative also promotes the use of drug take-back days, where Sterling Heights residents can properly dispose of any unwanted prescription medication at locations throughout Macomb County.
