In September of 2021 in Savannah, a crack trafficking ring was dismantled after multiple defendants were taken into custody. Fourteen people faced charges, mainly for the Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Distribute and to Distribute Crack Cocaine, which comes with a penalty of up to 20 years in prison, substantial financial penalties, and four years of supervised release after prison time is served. The investigation took place on Savannah's west side, and drug sales took place as early as October 1, 2020. All 14 defendants were Savannah residents.
