The agent I spoke with on the phone, Shervon Flores, was wonderful. She was very knowledgeable on the process and helpful with the forms I needed in order to obtain results. When I was trying to figure out where to scan the documents, she nicely pointed out that I could use my smart phone and email them. She then stayed on the line while I did so to confirm they received and then sent the information I requested to me in a timely manner.Excellent customer service!

Avuncular DNA Test (aunt/uncle and niece/nephew)

Specimens we can test for DNA

The easiest and most reliable way to obtain a DNA sample for paternity testing is to swab the inner cheeks of the people being tested. These skin cells are known as buccal cells, and they rub off easily onto cotton swabs and remain in place for analysis by our laboratory. Other specimen samples, such as hair follicles, fingernails, and garments that might contain someone’s DNA, can also be tested. An Alternative Specimen DNA Test is done by registering online and shipping the specimens to us.

Legally Admissible DNA Tests vs. “Peace of Mind” At-Home Tests

A Legal Paternity Test is a court admissible DNA testing service. Accurate results for DNA paternity testing with 99.99% confidence or greater take about a week.

When deciding which type of DNA test is right for you, consider first what you might do with the results. In order for the results of a DNA test to hold up in court, for child support, or to change the name on a birth certificate, the test must be done at a clinic using strict chain of custody procedures. Our Lincoln DNA testing technicians are trained to follow guidelines that ensure that the results can be used for legal purposes.

Lincoln, Nebraska – DNA testing

Establishing paternity in Lincoln, NE

If the parents were married when a child was conceived but divorced when the child was born, then the child is considered to be the legal child of the marriage, and paternity does not need to be established. The same applies if parents marry after the child’s birth.

If the parents are not married, it is necessary to establish paternity. This can be done in two ways in Nebraska. Parents can sign an Acknowledgment of Paternity, or the court can establish paternity. If paternity must be established judicially, there will be a lawsuit against the alleged father. The suspected father will have the right to take a DNA test to determine whether he is a biological father or not. Based on the DNA test results, the court will decide about paternity.

DNA test reveals Nebraska man has 18 half-siblings

Quinten’s life changed forever when he took a DNA test. He wanted to learn more about his medical history but discovered that he was a donor-conceived. The DNA test revealed that he has 18 half-siblings.

When he was younger, he realized he looked different than his brother and the rest of the family, but he was shocked when he saw the picture of his biological father. They looked like twins. Because he did not want to interfere with his birth father’s family, he decided not to reach out to him but wrote messages on Facebook to his siblings.

Some chose not to get in touch, but some replied to him. He was surprised as the resemblance between them was unreal. He plans to meet with those siblings who replied in person to talk further and find out what else they have in common.

He also said he is not angry with his parents, but wished they had told him and saved him from the shock of finding out through a DNA test. Now, he encourages parents to be open with their children from a young age to avoid surprises.
