This court initiative helps local defendants break the cycle of addiction by providing treatment plans and positive alternatives to drug use. Since January 2002, the court has screened more than 8,000 individuals and almost 1,000 have successfully completed the program.
This court-supervised program is for first-time offenders who have substance abuse issues and have been charged with non-felony drug-related crimes. It offers rehabilitation instead of jail or probation. While the amount of time spent in QMTC varies, it's common for the program to last one to two years.

The streets of Forest Hills are a bit safer after a $1.5M fentanyl and heroin mill was busted in nearby Maspeth. During a recent meeting of Community Board 6, Forest Hills Democratic Congresswoman Lynn Schulman encouraged any residents who see unlicensed stores selling marijuana to provide information to the board or call 311 to file a report.
