Conroe, Texas: Local Initiatives to curb drug overdoses

County leaders are alarmed by the fentanyl trend. They have created a fentanyl task force, secured funds from opioid lawsuit settlements, implemented new technology to track drug dealers, and increased access to the overdose-reversal drug Narcan for law enforcement. Their goal is to combat the fentanyl issue and raise awareness that a single pill can be lethal.

Commissioner James Noack has said they are exploring the idea of giving Narcan to parents to increase its availability. They are also developing an educational curriculum for county schools to raise awareness about the dangers of fentanyl and emphasize the message that one pill can be deadly. These initiatives aim to increase Narcan availability and educate the community about the risks associated with fentanyl use.
