Curbing substance abuse in Montgomery County and Abington

This program allows individuals suffering from substance use disorders a chance to voluntarily seek assistance for minor drug-related offenses without the fear of going to jail. Individuals can either approach local law enforcement agencies for help or, if detained for trivial drug possession or misdemeanors influenced by addiction, can be redirected to treatment instead of facing prosecution. However, this does not extend to serious drug offenses or violent crimes.

Additionally, Montgomery County also provides its residents with:

  1. Drug Disposal Program: The Drug Disposal Program can help residents with safe disposal of unused or unwanted medications.
  2. Pharmacies and naloxone access: According to the PA ACT 139, licensed pharmacies can dispense naloxone to individuals at risk of opioid overdose and those in a position to assist them.
