Community Efforts to Address Drug Problems in Speedway and Marion County

Concerned citizens of Marion county have formed an organization to dedicate themselves to educating kids and teens on the negative consequences of substance abuse. Drug Free Marion County is a non-profit organization that educates kids as young as those in elementary school about drugs, by promoting awareness and advocating change. Parents are often unaware of this problem among students and this organization works to educate them as well.

The organization works to assess the needs of the county, update changes to their Strategic Community Plan as needed, and then promote awareness.

They are working toward getting kids and teens to understand why they should not experiment with drugs in the first place. Ultimately their goal is to prevent tobacco, alcohol, and drug use among kids, reducing their negative consequences.

This organization is made up of a variety of residents, including healthcare workers, parents, teachers, and business professionals.
