Notable Historical Events Related to Drug Use in Searcy, AR

In March 2023, a 23-year-old Searcy man was arrested after authorities seized thousands of fentanyl pills and other illegal drugs. The seizure followed a six-month investigation by the Searcy Police Department and White County Sheriff's Office. In addition to thousands of fentanyl pills, officers also found 14 grams of cocaine, 14 pounds of methamphetamine, psychedelic mushrooms, marijuana, four stolen firearms, $4,000 in proceeds from illegal narcotic sales, and a stolen vehicle. The man was held in the White County Jail, facing charges of possessing methamphetamine/cocaine with the purpose of delivering, the possession of schedule IV controlled substance with the purpose to deliver and theft by receiving, and possessing drug paraphernalia.

Community Efforts to Address Drug Problems in Searcy, AR

In 2022, White County launched the NaloxHome Program for Unity Health at White County Medical Center in Searcy to reduce the number of drug-related overdose deaths in the area. The program provides Narcan kits to patients and caregivers who were discharged from the White County Medical Center after overdosing. Narcan, also known by its generic name naloxone, saves lives by reversing the effects of opioid overdoses.
