Police in New Braunfels, TX seize a large amount of fentanyl and arrest eight people
In March 2023, authorities from New Braunfels executed two search warrants, resulting in the arrest of eight people. Many substances, cash, and guns were found on the scene.
Police have been monitoring a known drug house, and the surveillance of the home led them to make two traffic stops. They arrested five people at that time. Based on those arrests, they went to the house and seized about 1,500 counterfeit fentanyl-laced pills. Following the arrest of five people, police gained new information and made a second arrest of three more people. At that time, they seized 5,000 counterfeit fentanyl-laced pills, THC edibles, cash, handguns, and other property connected to drug distribution.
Between both residences, police seized about $22,000 in cash and 6,500 fentanyl-laced pills. The pills were thought to have a street value of about $195,000.
Free drug disposal program in New Braunfels, TX
In July 2021, The Fire Department in New Braunfels started a free, year-round medication disposal program, which is funded by a Texas Health and Human Services grant. This program aims to prevent illicit drugs from circulating in the community. Using this program, people can put their unused prescriptions into a special envelope and leave them in a USPS mailbox. This service is available to all residents at no cost. No return address is required on the envelope.
