Local Initiatives to Curb Substance Abuse in Muncie, IN

The Delaware County Prevention Council (DCPC) was created to educate and encourage Muncie and Delaware County adolescents to make positive choices about drugs and alcohol, as well as prevent deadly abuse. This local initiative offers free programs for local youth to help them make the right choices, while also providing those in need with necessary resources to live a healthy, drug-free life.

One of the programs offered through DCPC is Too Good for Drugs (TGFD), a school-based program that provides local adolescents with the skills and knowledge to make healthy choices when dealing with concerns of drug and alcohol. Kids can develop personal and interpersonal skills to resist peer pressure as well as learn about the negative consequences of drug abuse.

Likewise, an additional program offered through the council is What’s Your Side Effect (WYSE). This program brings media campaigns, including posters and public service announcements, into local schools to educate kids on how to achieve goals while avoiding the use of drugs and alcohol.
