The city of Meriden struggles with substance abuse, and has implemented some of the following strategies to help reduce it.

  1. The MORR program (Meriden Opioid Referral for Recovery) distributes harm reduction materials and helps people with recovery and treatments.

Meriden man charged for cocaine trafficking

In June 2021, police arrested a Meriden man because of cocaine distribution and firearm possession. Police seized about 390 grams of cocaine and over 280 thousand dollars in cash. The man was later released on bond, but while he was released, he continued to distribute cocaine, so he got arrested again in February 2023. Police found 50 grams of cocaine and over three thousand dollars in cash.
