Quick, easy and informative. I will use this service again and hope to get a similar representative!. Easy to use. News Events Relating to Substance Abuse in Evansville, IN

In July 2022, Indiana law enforcement announced an indictment against two Evansville men for trafficking and manufacturing deadly fentanyl-laced pills. Following a month-long investigation, Ethan Parker and Joshua Harvey were arrested on conspiracy to distribute fentanyl in and around the Evansville area; if convicted, Parker and Harvey face 10 years to life in prison.

During the investigation, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) officers seized upwards of 1,400 fentanyl pills. Details regarding the investigation showed that Parker and Harvey would purchase pounds of fentanyl powder from a local supplier to then manufacture laced pills with a pill press. These arrests come at a time when drug overdose deaths have reached an all-time high in Evansville.

Initiatives to Help Curb Substance Abuse in Evansville, IN

In an effort to supply stronger resources to target the spiking concern of drug abuse, trafficking, and overdose-related deaths in Evansville and the surrounding Vanderburgh County area, the U.S. Attorney's Office designated the county as a High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA). This designation allows Vanderburgh County to now access federal resources to combat drug distribution and increase enforcement initiatives across the area.

Through these resources, local law enforcement agencies are developing better-targeted efforts to reduce drug-related activity and the risk of violence that accompanies local trafficking operations. The program encompasses a multitude of state, local, and federal counterparts to help dismantle the most dangerous drug trafficking and money laundering organizations in the Vanderburgh area.
