9 Panel Hair Follicle Drug Test

Unlike our Urine drug test, hair follicle testing requires small samples of hair for accurate testing. Because of this, the detection window for a 9-panel hair follicle test is much longer than the urine screening.

When is a 9-Panel hair drug test required?

When employers, courts, schools, families, or individuals are seeking a professional laboratory test with an extended look back period to identify street drug and painkiller abuse over the past 3 months (90 days) should order the 9-panel hair follicle drug test.

What drugs are found in a 9 Panel Hair Follicle Test?

This hair drug test screens for the following drugs

  • Cocaine
  • Marijuana
  • Amphetamines (including Ecstasy and Molly)
  • Opiates (including Heroin, Codeine, and Morphine)
  • PCP (Angel Dust)
  • Benzodiazepines (Xanax, Valium)
  • Methadone
  • Barbiturates
  • Propoxyphene

How does a 9-panel hair follicle drug test work?

To perform a hair test, our technicians will cut around 60 to 100 strands of hair. The hair must be at least an inch and a half per strand in order to be analyzed. We can use hair from the head, chest, leg, or armpit. If the person’s head hair is shorter than 1.5 inches long, select the body hair option when registering.

Many (but not all) of our clinics perform hair tests. Of the ones that do, only certain ones will perform it on body hair. We’ll be sure to set you up with the right clinic location based on your specific needs.

How do I schedule a hair follicle drug test?

You can register online or call us to schedule. You’ll receive a registration code that can be used at the clinic that performs the hair test nearest to the city, state and/or ZIP code you choose. The person being tested can then walk in to the clinic with photo ID and simply show the registration code. You can change your chosen location at no charge.

When will I get my results?

Results for hair tests are typically available in 2 or 3 days. Non-negative results can take longer. All results are reviewed and signed by a physician medical review officer, known as an MRO. We’ll notify you to call the MRO if your results are not negative. This is your opportunity to explain any prescription medications you might be taking, prior to the release of the results.
