This is now an exception to Tennessee’s “employment-at-will” doctrine, which states that employers may terminate employees for any reason (or no reason at all) without legal liability (with certain exceptions, like discrimination or termination based on being called to military duty, jury duty, filing workers compensation, and other similar issues).
