In March 2023, the U.S. Attorney's Office Middle District of Georgia announced that the leader of a meth distribution ring centered in Milledgeville, Georgia, alongside 16 of his co-conspirators, pleaded guilty to their crimes. These arrests came in part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) operation beginning back in June 2020.

According to reports, the task force received credible information from multiple confidential sources of a man leading a multi-kilogram methamphetamine distribution ring in Milledgeville. It was discovered that the drug ringleader used "stash" houses across Milledgeville to store bulk narcotics and cash the group obtained. In April 2021, law enforcement conducted surveillance on the ringleader, where they witnessed him obtain four kilograms of meth from an accomplice, ultimately leading to his arrest.

Initiatives to Help Curb Substance Abuse in Milledgeville, GA

In an effort to curb the rising concern of prescription drug abuse across Milledgeville and the surrounding Georgia area, the state developed the Georgia Prescription Drug Abuse Prevention Collaborative (GADAPC).
