In June 2023, a search warrant in Jamestown led to the arrest of five people. The search warrant, executed by Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force and Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office narcotics investigators, took place at the 100 block of Fairview Avenue in Jamestown. During the search warrant, officers seized 12.8 grams of fentanyl, 14 grams of crack cocaine, methamphetamine, scales, ammunition, cash, and drug packaging materials. The individuals were taken to the Jamestown City Jail with charges that included criminally using drug paraphernalia and three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Government Efforts to Address Substance Abuse in Jamestown, NY and Chautauqua County
The Chautauqua Substance Abuse Response Partnership (CSARP) was established from a grant received by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The group works to collaborate with local organizations to help Jamestown and Chautauqua County residents struggling with opioid addiction. The group addresses opioid use prevention, recovery, and treatment in Jamestown and throughout the county. In addition to these efforts, the Chautauqua County Department of Mental Hygiene (CCDMH) partnered with HEALing Communities Study and Combat Addiction CHQ to provide naloxone training to the public. The training is free and offered at the Prendergast Library in Jamestown. Naloxone is a life-saving medication used to reverse the effects of opioid overdoses.
