In partnership with local law enforcement and the Pennsylvania Attorney General's office, LETI utilizes local police departments to provide resources for residents suffering from substance abuse disorders. The LETI program currently has two options for residents.
For those suffering from substance abuse issues, the first option is to present themselves at their local police department to request assistance. From there, law enforcement can facilitate quick entry into a drug and alcohol treatment program through an immediate intake interview and transportation to a facility. The second option is presented when an individual is facing arrest due to drug related crimes. Here, a Montgomery County officer will present drug treatment as an alternative to criminal charges and jail time.
Local Initiatives to Curb Substance Abuse in Harleysville, PA
With the state of Pennsylvania experiencing one of highest opioid overdose rates in the United States, Governor Tom Wolf introduced the Centers of Excellence (COE) for Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) in 2016.
