Specimens we can test for DNA

The easiest and most reliable way to obtain a DNA sample for paternity testing is to swab the inner cheeks of the people being tested. These skin cells are known as buccal cells, and they rub off easily onto cotton swabs and remain in place for analysis by our laboratory. Other specimen samples, such as hair follicles, fingernails, and garments that might contain someone's DNA, can also be tested. An Alternative Specimen DNA Test is done by registering online and shipping the specimens to us.

Legally Admissible DNA Tests vs. "Peace of Mind" At-Home Tests

A Legal Paternity Test is a court admissible DNA testing service. Accurate results for DNA paternity testing with 99.99% confidence or greater take about a week.

When deciding which type of DNA test is right for you, consider first what you might do with the results. In order for the results of a DNA test to hold up in court, for child support, or to change the name on a birth certificate, the test must be done at a clinic using strict chain of custody procedures. Our Delray Beach DNA testing technicians are trained to follow guidelines that ensure that the results can be used for legal purposes.

Delray Beach, Florida - DNA Testing

Establishing paternity in Delray Beach, FL

If parents are married when the child is born, there is no need for further action to establish paternity. However, for unwed parents, paternity must be established. Without establishing paternity, the child can miss out on multiple benefits, and the father lacks legal rights and responsibilities towards the child. One of the most common ways to establish paternity is by signing the Acknowledgment of Paternity. However, this document should only be signed if there are no doubts about the identity of the biological father, as it holds legal weight and can be challenging to overturn.

If parents are unsure about paternity or have any other reasons why they do not want to establish paternity voluntarily, they can go to court. Going to court often means the alleged father and child will be ordered to take DNA tests to prove their genetic relationship.

Health Street provides DNA and paternity testing services to people who want to establish paternity or confirm a biological relationship in Delray Beach, Florida. Whether you need a paternity test for legal purposes or peace of mind, Health Street offers services to help.

DNA test reunites identical twins in South Florida

Molly was born in South Korea but was adopted and grew up in Florida. One day, Molly decided to take a DNA test, which led to the discovery that her twin sister lived in Philadelphia. The sisters finally met in March 2021 and celebrated their 36th birthday together. Both sisters want to learn more about their Korean heritage and explore their personal links, such as motherhood, marriage, and careers. They also discovered that they could have met in the past because their grandparents lived in Delray Beach. Because the sisters met during the COVID-19 pandemic, their reunion felt even more special as it was not easy to reconnect at that time.
