Henderson Occupational Health Laws, Acts, and Legislation

For both private and public Henderson workplaces, employers are required to follow occupational safety and health guidance established under the Nevada Occupational Safety and Health Act. This collection of rules and regulations is based on federal OSHA guidance and creates a wide variety of protections for employees. Many topics covered under these various laws include workplace hazard communication and the use of a regulatory board that monitors workplaces and allows employees to file complaints in the event of unsafe working conditions.
Under current Henderson workplace occupational health regulations, there are a variety of employee types that must follow tuberculosis (TB) testing regulations. Henderson occupational health regulations require various medical facilities including but not limited to hospitals, surgical centers, and psychiatric hospitals to conduct pre-employment TB screenings of employees before job placement. Currently, workplace occupational health law requires these employees to undergo annual TB testing to further monitor workplaces for the risk of TB exposure.
With the state of Nevada following OSHA guidelines, federal bloodborne pathogen exposure workplace regulation must be followed by Henderson employers to reduce the risk of employee illness. OSHA Standard 1910.1030 includes a wide variety of protocols, including the development of an Exposure Control Plan that outlines precautions and exposure-response tactics to prevent potential exposure. In the event of possible exposure, employers are required to provide hepatitis B vaccination resources as well as post-exposure resources, including an antibody test that can be used to measure the individual’s level of immunity to hepatitis B.
Certain Henderson employers may require employees to possess a commercial driver’s license (CDL) for work purposes. However, it’s important to note that to obtain a CDL, the employee may be required to first receive medical certification to demonstrate that they are capable of operating a commercial vehicle. This medical certification process will entail a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical that requires the employee to undergo a urinalysis drug test, a hearing and vision test, and a physical health examination.

Henderson Antibody Testing

The COVID-19 Antibody Test checks for antibodies in a person’s blood that protect against SARS-CoV-2. Use this test to determine if Henderson employees have previously recovered from COVID-19 or received a COVID-19 vaccine.

Hepatitis A infections can be spread via water, food, and close contact with individuals who are infected.
