The arrests came after investigators were made aware that three Arizona-based narcotics traffickers were selling fentanyl-laced pills in the Fairbanks area.

The execution of a search warrant at a Fairbanks hotel where the three dealers were residing led to a massive drug bust. Inside the room, law enforcement collected roughly 1,090 blue “M30” counterfeit fentanyl pills, 3,090 rainbow “M30” counterfeit fentanyl pills, 88 grams of heroin, and $13,500.00 in cash. It’s believed the suspects brought the drugs in from the lower 48 states, resulting in multiple trafficking charges.

To curb the ongoing concerns of deadly opioid overdose, the Alaska Department of Health developed the Project HOPE initiative to distribute and administer Narcan throughout the state. Organizations can apply to become a Project HOPE partner and work with local groups to help distribute Narcan to those in need. These organizations include but are not limited to law enforcement agencies, faith-based organizations, and transitional housing agencies. If approved, an organization is allowed to distribute or administer Narcan to Alaska residents at risk of experiencing an opioid overdose and their families.
