In December 2022, the Racine County Metro Drug Unit arrested a mother and her son following the discovery of an ongoing drug sale operation taking place from their home. The 41-year-old mother and her 21-year-old son are suspected of dealing crack cocaine alongside a multitude of other illicit substances from their residence, which was also the home of two young children.
Following multiple undercover controlled buys of crack cocaine from the mother, law enforcement discovered the source was her Grange Avenue home. With a search warrant, law enforcement discovered cocaine, psilocybin, promethazine cough syrup, hydrocodone, morphine, and many other controlled substances. The mother and son were arrested on drug and endangerment charges that resulted in the children being taken into Racine County Human Services custody.
Initiatives to Help Curb Substance Abuse in Racine, WI
Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers announced in November 2021 that the state would be joining the Bloomberg Opioid Overdose Prevention Initiative. This initiative was first launched in Michigan and Pennsylvania back in 2018 to provide states with a share of a $120 million Bloomberg Philanthropies investment to combat the effects of the opioid epidemic.
