In August 2021, a total of 11 people from the Navarre and Fort Walton Beach area were sentenced to multi-year federal prison terms for their roles in a local drug trafficking operation. According to case details, the arrest came as a result of a two-year multi-agency investigation involving the DEA and Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office. Following the span of the investigation, agents served search warrants at multiple locations where they seized an overwhelming amount of drugs.
In total, the officers collected more than 16.5 kilograms of methamphetamine, roughly 7 kilograms of fentanyl/heroin mixtures, 2 kilograms of opioid pills, roughly a kilogram of cocaine, and almost 2 kilograms of marijuana. Likewise, more than $180,000 in drug profits, eight vehicles, and a large haul of firearms and ammunition were also seized. Those arrested have been charged and sentenced for a range of offenses, including controlled substance distribution, felony possession of a firearm, and possession charges.
