In July 2017 at a hospital in East Norriton, a drug dealer led a woman to her death by delivering drugs to her in her hospital bed. The dealer hand-delivered a deadly dose of fentanyl to the mother of three. He delivered the drugs, which included three bags of heroin to her five times, even in the middle of the night. An autopsy confirmed the woman died from a lethal dose of fentanyl. The man was seen on surveillance video. He was charged with drug delivery resulting in death, criminal use of a communication facility, possession with intent to deliver, recklessly endangering another person, and possession of a controlled substance.
In 2017, an investigation into an online drug trafficking operation in Montgomery County came to an end. Officials discovered that three Chinese nationals and a former Montgomery County Sheriff's Deputy were working together to run the drug ring. The suspects were using mail to send drugs from China to Deputy Landis of East Norriton, PA. Deputy Landis then used USPS to send the drugs to buyers throughout the United States. The drugs were being distributed in Montgomery County, and to customers in Ohio, Illinois, Georgia, and Tennessee. It was reported that customers in these states died from fentanyl overdoses from fentanyl sold by this group.
