The owners of Texas-Pictures recorded family members’ photos and video testimonials about their lost loved ones. Owner Glen Muse said he was shocked by the volume of views the videos generated. One family member, Fay Martin, says she came from Corpus Christi to be at the gathering to share her story in the hopes that it may help prevent it from happening to someone else’s loved ones.

Possession of even a very small amount of marijuana is a criminal offense, and punishment can include fines, jail time, and a permanent criminal record.

In 2015, the state of Texas passed the Texas Legislature passed the Compassionate Use Act, a law that permitted the use of low-THC cannabis for the treatment of a specific type of epilepsy. The act has since been expanded but is still very limited compared to medical marijuana laws in other states.
